Network monitor tool for PC
Internet Check is a free and open-source internet & network program that was created by indie developer Niklas Fischer. It serves as a network monitoring utility that helps users check the status of their network and ensure that it is working properly and they are able to access the web.
Similar to other network tools, such as PTRG Network Monitor and NetCrunch, Internet Check serves as a simple solution to check for proper network connectivity on PC devices. It also logs offline time so users are able to keep track of how long their connection was down.
How do I use Internet Check?
Internet Check features a minimal UI and you can press on Start to begin monitoring. Click Open to view the results from your network's activity. The Clear button will let you delete results data. Settings will have more advanced options for you to configure, and the bottom bar is where the monitoring status and the server ping interval can be seen.
In-app settings are divided into four sections. You can enable dark mode and set notifications for various events in Basic Settings. The Advanced Settings will let you test server Ping or use custom servers. You can set Internet Check's operational parameters from Task Scheduler. Lastly, you can check and download new versions of the tool in the Update section.
One thing to take note of with Internet Check and how it handles error messages and notifications. It does not feature a unified system and messages end up stacking on top of one another. If you dismiss one error message, the rest also gets dismissed in the process, even before you get the chance to check them.
